David Waisbein, a Senior Vice President at Morgan Stanley, has been focused on wealth preservation and management as a financial advisor for more than 24 years. David brings a unique approach to his wealth management practice, focusing not only on wealth preservation, management and growth , but on developing smart financial strategies for his clients throughout their lifespan; looking toward a retirement to meet the unique needs and goals of each client. David is committed to a highly informed clientele and focuses on long range planning for the unique needs of each client as they navigate from career focus to retirement focus and the changing financial management strategies those changes require.

David is committed to financial education and has devoted hundreds of Saturdays and evenings in classrooms, teaching thousands of local professionals the nationally recognized course, “Financial Strategies for Successful Retirement, teaching both at local corporations such as Genentech, Clorox, Sun and Chiron to name a few as well as to the community as a well recognized teacher at the College of San Mateo, Canada College and Skyline college since 1994. It is a rare class that doesn’t give David a full standing ovation for his stimulating, clear, interactive and excellent education programs peppered with vivid examples and humor to keep the course highly informative as well as enjoyable.

David is delighted to have added Matthew Herrick, CFA to the practice, ensuring both a team approach for today and an enduring practice for tomorrow. Together, they bring the best of comprehensive financial management services to their clients.

David is a lively and engaged professional, enjoying the best of the Bay Area in bicycling, attending local theater, musical events, volunteering for the Samaritan house and enjoying his wife Joan, son Daniel and extended family in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Matthew P. Herrick, CFA

Matthew Herrick joined Morgan Stanley*’s Menlo Park office in 2012. Matthew has provided investment management and wealth planning advice to successful entrepreneurs, executives, and professionals since 2008 at Merrill Lynch Wealth Management. Previously, he was an attorney at law with the law firm of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP based in San Francisco.

Prior to law school, he held retail and institutional sales positions at Franklin Templeton, Montgomery Securities and Banc of America Securities from 1997 to 2004. While working in the Private Client Services Department at Montgomery, he regularly assisted Silicon Valley entrepreneurs with concentrated stock positions, executing restricted stock sales (Rule 144) and complex hedging transactions (costless collars and pre-paid forward sales) and reinvesting the proceeds in a diversified portfolio. As a Vice President for Institutional Equity Sales at Banc of America Securities, he provisioned the firm’s equity research to portfolio managers and analysts from the institutional investment community (mutual, pension and hedge funds) and participated in hundreds of road show meetings with senior executives of public companies, visiting the offices of nearly every major institutional investment firm in the country along the way. As an attorney at Pillsbury, he filed securities offering documents and assisted on both public and private company M&A transactions.

As a veteran of two institutional trading floors, Montgomery Securities in San Francisco and Banc of America Securities in New York, a former corporate lawyer, and a holder of the prestigious Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation, Matthew brings a perspective on the capital markets and to wealth management that is unique to the financial advisory community.

Matthew is a graduate of the University of Washington and the University of Michigan Law School, and a CFA charter holder. He spends most of his time away from the office with his wife, Karen, and three children, Henry, Robert and Caroline. He is a native of San Jose, CA and attended Bellarmine College Preparatory.
