Denis Poljak, CIMA, CFP
Senior Vice President
Wealth Advisor
Portfolio Management Director
Senior Investment Management Consultant

From the time Denis first arrived in Shreveport in 1990, he knew that this was a special place. A native of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis came here as a student at Centenary College. He soon realized that his new home was indeed a land of opportunity and after receiving his undergraduate degree in Accounting and Business Administration, he went on to earn his MBA from Louisiana Tech.

Denis didn’t stop there. He continued to broaden and deepen his knowledge and was awarded two prestigious industry designations, Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER (CFP). After years of study, he received his PhD in Economics from the University of Sarajevo in 2011. In addition, Denis is a credentialed Morgan Stanley Portfolio Management Director and plays a major role in positioning client investments for a myriad of objectives. He also earned the firm’s Senior Investment Management Consultant designation for his ability to provide high net worth clients with consulting services and advice.

After beginning his financial advisory career at Merrill Lynch in 1995, Denis joined Morgan Stanley in 2009. He established The King Poljak Group with his brother Davor and John King to better serve the needs of clients seeking comprehensive wealth management and personalized investment management strategies.

Denis cares for the local community and is an active participant in the artistic, educational, and philanthropic life here.  He is a member of the Shreveport Rotary Club where he is a Paul Harris Fellow; an Ark-La-Tex Ambassador; an avid supporter of the Shreveport Opera, Shreveport Symphony and Shreveport Public Radio; and an active Centenary alumnus who works with the college to enhance its already strong reputation in the community.

Denis resides in his adopted city of Shreveport with his wife, Susannah, and their children, Thomas and Laura Charlotte.

John W. King
First Vice President
Financial Advisor
Senior Portfolio Manager

With more than 30 years of financial services experience, John is the senior member of The King Poljak Group. His vast industry knowledge helps him advise clients in a variety of economic and market environments. John is especially adept at helping clients simplify the complexities inherent in such disciplines as Rule 144 transactions, foreign currencies, tax-free income portfolio design and technical analysis of stock trends.

The former manager of Morgan Stanley’s Shreveport branch (1991-2001), John understands how to help clients access capabilities that can make a major difference in creating and implementing their wealth management strategies. Indeed, John’s experience has been particularly useful in advising families who seek to extend the advantages created over a lifetime to future generations. The many years he spent working in and managing his family’s restaurant and marina in Oil City, Louisiana have further contributed to his insights on what makes a family business successful. Today, John shares those insights with clients so that they can perpetuate their success for generations to come.

When not working hard for his clients, John and his wife, Pennye, raise and train paint horses and spend a lot of time outdoors on Caddo Lake.

Davor Poljak
Vice President
Financial Advisor
Senior Portfolio Manager
Investment Management Consultant

A former business owner, Davor understands the unique challenges faced by entrepreneurs and family businesses. He operated his own successful tennis academy in his native country of Bosnia after graduating from Centenary College with a degree in Business Administration and working at several prominent tennis academies around the US.

In 2006, the opportunity to work with his brother Denis in the financial services industry was too tempting to refuse. Davor relished the idea of working in a family business that was dedicated to helping other families. He now plays a key role in managing the team’s client relationships.

Like his brother, Davor believes that client education and service are critical. He spends much of his time keeping clients informed about research and industry trends that could affect their portfolios and overall wealth management plans. In addition, he is a credentialed Morgan Stanley Senior Portfolio Manager who provides substantial input to the team’s investment management process. When not spending time with his clients, Davor is a devoted member of Progressive Executives and the Shreveport Rotary Club. He and his wife, Megan, are proud parents of two sons, David and Danny. They reside in Shreveport.

Jason Adams

Jason serves as the Group’s Portfolio analyst, providing us with invaluable insights on market trends that influence the design of our client portfolios.

Jason joined Morgan Stanley in 2009 after beginning his financial services career at AG Edwards five years earlier. He received both his MBA and undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Stephen F. Austin State University and is convinced that continuing his education will enable him to maximize his value to clients and help them make more informed decisions.

Originally from Center, Texas, Jason now lives in Shreveport where he enjoys playing golf, reading, running and attending sporting events.

Tomislav "Tommy" Poljak
Senior Client Service Associate

The father of Denis and Davor, Tommy joined the group in July 2010. His extensive business experience has enriched our ability to provide clients with the service they demand and deserve. Tommy is a former metallurgical engineer who served as a Vice Chairman and member of the Board of Directors at RMK Zenica, one of southern Europe’s largest steel conglomerates. His position with the conglomerate allowed Tommy to conduct business throughout Europe, and he is fluent in several languages.

Tommy’s successes aren’t limited to businesses. He was a 16 time national tennis champion of Bosnia and Herzegovina and, as President of the former Yugoslav Tennis Association, he led the Yugoslavia Davis Cup team in 1984 and 1985.  Tommy’s greatest success, though, came in 1995, when after several years of separation from Denis and Davor, he and his wife, Ula, were able to leave the war torn Balkans and join their sons in Shreveport. They greatly enjoy living here where Tommy works with his sons, continues to play and coach tennis, and spends as much time as possible with his four grandchildren.

Scott E. Salvail
Registered Client Service Associate

Scott was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana. He graduated from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 2011, where he earned degrees in Economics and Business Administration.

After graduation, Scott returned to his hometown where he began his career in financial services at JPMorgan Chase. He assumed the role of a Licensed Banker after successfully completing both the Series 6 and Life Insurance exams. His responsibilities included generating growth in balances through the sale, marketing, promotion, and referral of products. In October of 2013, Scott was promoted into the role of a Private Banker with Chase Private Client. His responsibilities included delivering a high-touch and superior service experience to a portfolio of affluent clients. After three years at JPMorgan Chase, Scott joined Morgan Stanley in 2014 to serve as a Client Service Associate with The King Poljak Group. His experience will enable him to provide clients with the service they deserve. Furthering his education by acquiring additional licenses will allow Scott to maximize his ability to add value to the clients’ portfolios and help them make more informed decisions.

Scott and his wife, Lauren, are happily living in Shreveport, Louisiana with their black lab, Wrigley. When not working with clients, Scott enjoys playing golf, reading, and attending sporting events.

Joseph P. Fell

After graduation, Joseph returned home to Shreveport to begin his career at McElroy Metal, Inc. in 2011. He started out in the Technical Services department, and then moved into the sales side of the company.  He progressed through the company, taking on positions in Customer Service, Inside Sales, and Outside Sales. While there, one of Joseph’s most important responsibilities was coordinating communication between customers and the company departments to ensure the best possible customer service.  After three years, Joseph joined Morgan Stanley in 2015 to serve as a Client Service Associate with The King Poljak Group. Given the King Poljak Group’s emphasis on serving families and family businesses, we believe that Joseph’s experience will make Joseph particularly attuned to the needs and wants of our group’s clients.

He brings these values to his position with the King Poljak Group as well as an eagerness to broaden his knowledge of financial planning and wealth management that will continue to serve clients well.
