Founder of the Pelican Bay Group at Morgan Stanley and Senior Portfolio Management Director at Morgan Stanley’s Portfolio Management Group, Tony and his colleagues oversee the investment management of over $1.7 billion for individual and institutional clients as of August 31, 2015. This includes nearly $1 billion in covered call writing strategies, also for individual and institutional clients.

Mr. Gallea has received numerous industry awards and recognition, and has appeared on CNBC, CNN, Bloomberg Television, National Public Radio, USA Network and AP Radio Network. He has been interviewed by The Wall Street Journal and was the subject of a full-page interview in The New York Times.

Tony also is an accomplished author in the investment field with four books to his credit: The Lump Sum Handbook; Contrarian Investing; The Lump Sum Advisor, and Bulls Make Money, Bears Make Money, Pigs Get Slaughtered. 

Tony is a native of Rochester, New York and now resides in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida with his wife Barbara. A graduate of the University of Rochester (BA) and Colorado State University (MBA), he is a life member of American Mensa and served as an adjunct professor at St John Fisher’s Bittner School of Business.  A supporting member of the Cato Institute, as well as the Ludwig von Mises Institute, Mr. Gallea has been with Morgan Stanley since 1980.

Richard DiMarzo’s practice at Morgan Stanley focuses on asset management and planning for High-Net-Worth Individuals and High-Net-Worth Multi-Generational Families.  His team responsibilities include discretionary portfolio management of fixed income investments, as well as asset management and marketing to property casualty mutual insurance companies.

Richard is the Chairman of the Board of the James P. Wilmot Cancer Institute.  Richard is also Chairman of Judy’s Fund: Hope for Cancer Survivors.  The fund was established in 2012 as a tribute to Judy, his late wife, who passed away from cancer in 2009.  The fund’s dual purpose is to raise funds for the Judy DiMarzo Cancer Survivorship Program at the James P. Wilmot Cancer Institute which addresses the physical, emotional, social, spiritual and financial issues as a patient makes a transition from treatment to care.  The fund also seeks to create awareness for survivorship and the growing number of cancer survivors.

Richard is also a Governing Trustee to the board of Colgate Rochester Crozier Divinity School.  He also serves as Chair of Institutional Advancement and Finance committees.  He sits on the Property committee, as well as, the Investment Committee.  He was recently elected as Vice Chairman of the Board.

Richard was awarded the 2015 Community Leadership award by Morgan Stanley.

Richard is a prior board member of PMI (Portfolio Management Institute) and a 10 year associate member of PAMIC (Pennsylvania Association of Mutual Insurance Companies). He actively writes for the PAMIC Pulse, a monthly publication for Pennsylvania Mutual Insurance companies.

Richard began his career in 1986 and has been with Morgan Stanley for 28 years.

His two sons, Josh and Brian, both work in the financial service industry.

He is a graduate of Colgate University in Hamilton, New York where he earned his degree in Philosophy and Religion with a concentration in Ethics.    He has also received his designation as Certified Portfolio Manager® from Columbia University.

Jennifer often consults in a fiduciary capacity to institutional clients, where her strength is advising investment committees on asset allocation, manager selection and the development of a customized investment strategy designed to meet the organization’s goals. 

 Jennifer and her team are passionate about developing strategic partnerships with other advisors at Morgan Stanley.

As a leading asset management team at Morgan Stanley, the Pelican Bay Group works together with other advisors to create a unique client experience and differentiated approach - which becomes the foundation for mutually successful client relationships. 

Jennifer is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and serves on numerous advisory groups. She is the current co-chair of Morgan Stanley's Consulting Group Wealth Advisory Group. She is a member of Morgan Stanley’s Impact Investing Committee, Economics Club of New York, the Portfolio Management Institute, and a past Co-Chair of Morgan Stanley’s Director’s Advisory Group. 

Ms. Hartmann started her career in 1992 as an institutional fixed-income trader at Prudential Securities before joining Morgan Stanley and its predecessors in 1996. 

Ms. Hartmann earned her Certified Investment Management AnalystSM (CIMA®) Certification through the Wharton School, received her BA in Economics from the University of Pittsburgh and MBA from UMass Amherst. 

She is a member of the George Eastman Circle –University of Rochester and 184 Corp – University Settlement, New York, NY. Jennifer is a native of Rochester, New York. She currently lives in New York City and is the proud mom of her newly adopted son, who is almost home from Haiti.

Stephen Stribling is a Senior Vice President and Senior Portfolio Management Director for the Pelican Bay Group at Morgan Stanley in Denver, Colorado. He has thirty years of experience in the financial services industry.

Mr. Stribling works with a number of Financial Advisors within Morgan Stanley and manages equity portfolios for individuals, corporations and trusts both internationally and domestically, as such Stephen is one of a limited number of Advisors designed as an International Client Advisor. He is a Certified Portfolio Manager®*; and manages corporate executive’s complex financial needs as a Corporate Client Group Director. Stephen is also a former member of Executive Board of Governors of the Portfolio Management Institute and recently completed his term as President of the Portfolio Manager Institute.

In 2015 Stephen was named Portfolio Manager of the Year by fellow members of the Portfolio Management Institute and received the Bill Eager Award.

Stephen has earned Morgan Stanley’s Family Wealth Director (FWD) designation. This is an exceptional achievement and an attestation of his commitment to today’s high net worth families. The FWD designation entitles Mr. Stribling to specialized access to a variety of family advisory services including, family governance and dynamics, philanthropic services and customized reporting.

Prior to joining the Pelican Bay Group, Stephen was Branch Manager for Morgan Stanley and was responsible for opening the firm’s corporate services branch in Plano, Texas. In this capacity, he oversaw more than one billion dollars in assets and clients including 10+ Fortune 500 companies.

Mr. Stribling earned his BA in Finance from Indiana University and his Certified Portfolio Manager® designation from Columbia University. He was the controller for one of the largest real estate firms in Texas. Mr. Stribling is married with two children and travels around the world for business and pleasure.

*The CPM designation is earned through executive education curriculum at Columbia University.

As a Financial Planning Specialist within the Pelican Bay Group at Morgan Stanley’s Pittsford, New York office, Paul works primarily with fiduciaries, high-net-worth individuals, highly affluent families and small-to-medium size businesses.

Along with his colleague, Richard DiMarzo, Financial Advisor, Paul oversees an active private client practice in excess of 900 households, both nationally and internationally as of August 2015.

Paul is a member of the Business Owner Executive Council at Morgan Stanley.  The Business Owner Executive Council is an invitation-only program reserved for Financial Advisors that focus their practice on helping small- and middle-market business owners connect the pieces of their financial life with an overall strategy that considers both their business and personal wealth management plans.

Mr. Hanrahan began his career in the Financial Services Industry in 1994 with Prudential Securities in Rochester, NY as a Financial Advisor.  His career with Prudential Securities culminated as a Branch Manager, providing leadership to a 40-person office. At that time, Paul was one of the youngest Branch Managers in the firm’s history.

Paul is a member of the National Cancer Advisory Board of the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center.  He also serves as spokesperson and is a board member of Judy’s Fund: celebrating life beyond cancer. This fund is responsible for the advancement of the cancer survivorship clinic at JPWCC.

Paul is a graduate of Siena College where he played on the hockey team for 4 years.  In his free time he enjoys being with his family, coaching youth hockey and shooting sporting clays.  Paul resides in Brighton, New York with his wife, Katy, and their four children.

Shelley Ford began her career as a Financial Advisor with Morgan Stanley in May of 2011 (Series 7,66 and 31) and joined the Pelican Bay Group in January of 2014.

Prior to her career with Morgan Stanley, Shelley had fifteen years of business development small to mid-sized companies. Her experience as a chief marketing officer helped her transition into successfully helping in the fundraising efforts as an independent consultant and investment banker broker. Her experience as an investment banker allows her to take a more broad-minded approach to financial services offered to business owners and CEOs. Not only is she experienced in estate planning strategies for those considering a merger and acquisition; she is also committed to helping business owners years before that event by assisting in cash management, 401K/ pension plans as well as providing access to lending services. Shelley takes a pro-active approach to high net worth clients on estate planning strategies pre/post M&A.

Shelley is a pioneer and creator of the Executive’s Women’s Network of Colorado. She is committed to helping women and female business owners to better understand all of their financial options.

Shelley continues her involvement with non-profits having served on the Board of Director for Peripheral Neuropathy Association of Denver, and currently serving on the board for Colorado Public Broadcasting. She is a Rocky Mountain Micro Finance Coach as well as a supporter for Cocktails for a Cause. She takes a thoughtful approach with the financial planning for all of her clients and believes that every family member should understand their financial plan.

Shelley earned a BS (marketing and minor in economics) from CU Boulder. Shelley Ford also partnered with her husband celebrating 17 years of marriage to create an economically viable real estate investment business. In fact, her only claim to television fame was starring on HGTV “My House is Worth What?” Shelley has two children in middle school (Gabrielle and Brandon) and a husband originally from New Zealand. Together, they are working on receiving their black belts in tae kwon do and have a passion for travel.

Vice President & Director of Business Strategy

Russell Smith is a Portfolio Management Associate with the Pelican Bay Group at Morgan Stanley* in Pittsford, New York.  He joined the firm in 2005.  He has a Masters of Business Administration degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology and is a holder of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

Mr. Smith provides investment management, analysis and trading support for the Portfolio Management platform.  He is currently incubating an all cap growth equity style and works with Richard Dimarzo on the management of the fixed income portfolios.  Additionally, Mr. Smith is responsible for execution of the group’s block trading in the equity, options and fixed income markets.

Mr. Smith interacts on a daily basis with his professional counterparts at banks, trust companies and investment management firms, serving the Group’s institutional clients.  In this capacity, Mr. Smith is responsible for answering the daily investment needs of the Group’s client base.

Rebecca Michel began her career with the firm in 2010 and has completed the Series 3, 7 and Series 63 examinations.  Becky has been in the financial services industry for 18 years.  She is a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.

Becky is responsible for overseeing all of the group’s administrative and operational activities. She independently helps to develop, communicate and implement procedures to best meet the logistical and administrative needs of clients and team members.  Becky serves as a liaison between Financial Advisors, support staff and branch management, keeping all apprised of the status of projects and proactively communicating any follow up issues and next steps. Becky also coordinates and manages the support staff functions of the group.

In her free time, Becky enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons.  She competes in sprint triathlons, completed the 2012 Bank of America Chicago Marathon the 2013 NYC Marathon.

Portfolio Management Associate

Tara Nemergut is a Consulting Group Analyst. She joined the firm in 1992. She has successfully completed the Series 7 and Series 63 examinations, and Morgan Stanley’s Consulting Group Correspondence Course. She is a graduate of Monroe Community College, where she earned her AS in Legal Studies and is also a Notary Public.

Tara assists the team’s financial advisors in manager search, selection, due diligence and analysis for the team’s institutional relationships. In addition, she is responsible for the Group’s use of Morgan Stanley’s Portfolio Management Trade system, where all Group-managed accounts are analyzed and traded.

In Tara’s personal time, she enjoys competing with her Border Collie, Dexter, in American Kennel Club (AKC) Agility Competitions.  In 2011, Tara and Dexter earned their Master Agility Championship Title and Qualified for the 2012 AKC National Agility Championship Event in Reno, NV.  In 2013, Tara and Dexter earned their 2nd Master Agility Championship Title and will be attending the 2014 AKC National Agility Championship Event in Harrisburg, PA.  They continue to actively compete.

Jeanette joined Morgan Stanley and its predecessors in 1997 and has achieved her Series 7 and Series 66 licenses.  She is a Senior Registered Associate which reflects her ability to provide the proficient handling of all client administrative needs including trade executions while providing a high level of service to all clients.  Jeanette is committed to achieving continued professional development. She is constantly adding to her knowledge, depth and breadth of her experience within the financial industry.  Over the years Jeanette has become an expert in the firm’s operational systems for the benefit of our clients.  She is involved in new hire training on Morgan Stanley managed account platforms, within the Complex and was a member of the National Service Advisory Council.  Jeanette is also trained to assist with Consulting Group technical analysis.  

Jeanette was born and raised in Denver, Colorado.  Her ties to Denver run deep with her large extended family.  She is a mother of 3 young children who keep her extremely busy in her personal time.  She is very involved in their education and extracurricular activities.  Jeanette and her husband Donavan, enjoy family time, traveling and exploring with their little ones.

Karen Peterson joined the firm in 2000.  Karen has successfully completed the Series 7 and Series 63 examinations, and Morgan Stanley*’s Advisor Support Staff Certification Program.  In 2006, Mrs. Peterson continued her commitment to ongoing professional development and received the designation of Financial Planning Associate.

Mrs. Peterson provides Anthony Gallea and Jennifer Hartmann with administrative and operational support.  She works with institutional clients to provide full customer support and resolve operational queries.   In addition, Karen provides high quality customer service to the high net worth clients of Richard DiMarzo and Paul Hanrahan.

Mrs. Smith provides Richard DiMarzo and Paul Hanrahan with administrative and operational support for their private clients.  Sue provides customer service by utilizing her attention to detail to help investigate and resolve questions and operating issues.  Her primary focus is communicating with clients.

Pamela McCool has been a Senior Registered Associate with Morgan Stanley in New York City since 2009.  Pamela began her career at Standard and Poor’s Corporation and spent the next 25 years working at a variety of major wall street firms.

Pamela works closely with the team’s global client base of both individual and institutional clients. She handles administrative issues, trade executions and specific client requests.

Pamela was born and raised in New York City and has 15 brothers and sisters. She currently resides in Forest Hills, NY and enjoys, travel, cooking and spending time with her very fun, large family.

Julie Agostinelli is new to the firm in 2014.  While her background is insurance, she has always had an interest in the financial industry.  Julie assists the team by providing customer service to our clients and also assists Richard DiMarzo and Paul Hanrahan with administrative support for their private clients.  Julie is committed to helping our clients and always providing them with exceptional service and attention to detail.

Born and raised in Rochester, NY, Julie and her husband live locally and enjoy spending time with their families.  In her spare time, she enjoys taking her dog on outdoor adventures, creating new recipes to try and event planning.
