The Pathak Group
Raj began his career at E.F. Hutton in 1986 and has stayed at the same firm through numerous mergers for over 28 years. This experience has helped Raj to navigate clients through numerous economic, political, and stock market corrections. He oversees The Pathak Group at Morgan Stanley* and currently manages over $850 million in assets for business owners, high net worth families and institutional client relationships as of December 31, 2013.
One of the key elements that motivates Raj is his background and heritage. Raj’s father came to America in 1956 on the bottom of a boat from India with only $10 to his name. His father’s story is the epitome of the American dream. He obtained his medical degree in India and then his PHD at the University of Oregon. He was Professor of Dermatology at Harvard Medical School and a Research Dermatologist at Massachusetts General Hospital. He developed many of the original ingredients found in sunscreen and discovered the only treatment for Psoriasis and Vitiligo.
Raj’s mother, came to America a few years after his father. She was a traditional Indian wife for that generation until she came to America. When Raj’s dad brought her to the U.S. by plane he asked her to take the carry on bags off the plane. She said “we are in America now, you get the bags.” Raj’s mother was always there for her three boys. She stayed at home while they grew up and then worked part time when the boys went to high school. Raj’s advisors growing up were his mother and father. He realized the need to have a second opinion.
Raj’s parents instilled three values in him which drive him today: hard work, education, and family. He uses these values in his practice, navigating his clients through these challenging times. Raj knew early on that he wanted to get into the wealth management business. In school, he realized chemistry and physics did not interest him so he would not follow in his father’s footsteps. He had a fascination with the stock market so he knew finance would appeal to him. When he enrolled at Babson College he thought hotel management would be a good career but when he researched it he realized that was not the correct career path. The latter years of college introduced Raj to finance and investments and he knew this was for him.
Raj realized education allowed him to control his destiny. Raj realizes the value of experience. His two and a half decades in the business have taught him a lot about saving and investing for himself which he uses to help clients. It’s all about what you can make, what you can save, and how much you can preserve.
Raj was born and raised in Boston and now lives in Milton, MA with his wife, Lori, and their three children. He graduated with Highest Distinction from Babson College with a bachelor’s degree in Investments and Finance.
As a Managing Director of Morgan Stanley*, Raj has created a wealth management practice that differentiates The Pathak Group from other wealth management teams. His formula has three distinct parts: Investment Consulting, Advanced Planning, and Relationship Management. Investment Consulting involves obtaining the potentially best possible return for the client given their level of risk. Advanced Planning incorporates wealth enhancement (tax and cash-flow planning), the transferring of wealth effectively, wealth protection, and charitable giving to further the client’s options in desired areas. Finally, Relationship Management involves client relationship management, to ensure the client receives a high level of service, expert relationship management and a network of experts (CPA’s, Estate Planning attorneys, lending and insurance specialists and more) that can assist clients.
In addition to his recognized success in wealth management, Mr. Pathak has been a member of Morgan Stanley’s Director’s Council for the past 19 years, a distinction awarded to only the top 4% of Morgan Stanley*’s Financial Advisors. He was recognized by “Barron’s Magazine” as one of Baron’s Top 1200 Advisors in the country in the state by state ranking in February 2014* and “Registered Representative Magazine” recognized Raj as one of the Top 100 Wirehouse Advisors (2009)** in America.
Financial Planning Specialist
As a Financial Advisor with the Pathak Group at Morgan Stanley*, Brendan's primary responsibilities include managing client relationships, creating financial plans and pursuing new investment opportunities.
He initially joined the group in 2007 as an intern while attending Bentley University. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics & Finance he worked as a Financial Services Associate at Prudential Financial, and then rejoined the Pathak Group in late 2008.
Originally from Milton, Massachusetts, Brendan now resides in Quincy with his Wife Colleen. He enjoys traveling, golf and spending time on Cape Cod.
A Summa Cum Laude graduate with a degree in Finance from West Chester University, Brian joined the Pathak Group in 2006. His financial background includes two years of experience in JP Morgan’s private banking division and two years specializing in home-equity lending with a small community bank in Pennsylvania.
Brian’s current responsibilities at the Pathak Group include client service, special projects, maintaining client portfolio accounts and overseeing the team's administrative and operational efforts to ensure our clients receive timely and high levels of service. He is also involved in coordinating a wide range of client support processes and assisting in our financial planning efforts. Brian, his wife Amanda and their daughter Farren live in Plymouth, MA with their Great Pyrenees - Mona, who they rescued from Alabama. In his spare time he enjoys working on his house, carpentry, camping, kayaking, live music, and traveling.
Consulting Group Analyst
Entering the financial services industry in 1999, Eric is a graduate of Bridgewater State College with degrees in Business Administration and Philosophy. Prior to joining the Pathak Group at Morgan Stanley*, he served as a Registered Marketing Associate at Deutsche Bank, providing portfolio analysis for corporate executives, foundations and endowments. He also spent several years specializing in portfolio management and individual stock research at Legg Mason.
As part of the Pathak Group, Eric's primary responsibilities include client service, operations, marketing and portfolio analytics/ research. He holds FINRA Series 7 & 63 licenses.
Eric lives in Berlin, MA with his wife Jennifer and their four children. He’s an avid reader, golfer and plays recreational basketball, softball and soccer.
Client Service Associate
Joining the Pathak Group in 2012, Paul has over 25 years of financial services experience and a diversified background in all aspects of financial and client services. He has worked for highly-recognized companies such as Computershare, Citizens Financial, Bank of America Investments, Fleet Mortgage Group and Old Stone Federal Savings Bank, and has held the positions of Bank Branch Manager, Mortgage Loan Originator, Customer Service Rep for High Net-Worth Investors, Shareholder Services Consultant and an Equity/ Fixed Income Trader.
As Client Service Associate, Paul handles a wide range of client support and administrative responsibilities, and is also involved in certain aspects of the group’s marketing effort. He resides in N. Dighton, MA and enjoys the country life, gardening, culinary adventures, traveling and his faithful four legged companion Kobi.
Client Service Associate
A graduate of Colby College with a Bachelor’s degree in International and Environmental Studies, Emma has worked in the technical staffing field and has also been an active volunteer for the Mayflower Foundation and Friends of the Israeli Defense Force (FDIF). Her primary responsibilities at the Pathak Group will include a range of administrative activities, client service and providing operational support to the team. She looks forward to introducing herself to you in the near future, and to working with you going forward.
