Stephen Ackerman
Executive Director
Financial Advisor
Steve’s experience dates back to 1958, when he began working on the New York Stock Exchange trading floor while attending college. The knowledge gained during those years formed the foundation for his career on Wall Street. Over the next 10 years, he transitioned himself from a registered representative to an investment advisor concentrating on fixed income for high-net-worth individuals, institutions and foundations. In 1975, Steve co-founded a municipal bond firm and later joined Bear Stearns in 1984, where he was instrumental in building a presence in municipals within the Private Client Services Group. During that time, Steve became a Senior Managing Director and formed a partnership with four colleagues that became the foundation for the 1211 Group. After Bear Stearns was taken over by JP Morgan in March of 2008, he and the team joined Morgan Stanley* as Senior Vice Presidents, Financial Advisors. Steve continues to concentrate on the fixed income market with a focus on high grade municipals. Portfolios are actively monitored to take advantage of discrepancies in the market, giving the opportunity to enhance total return. Yield curve analysis, economic conditions, market timing, and supply dictate his analysis. In return, these factors control yield, quality and maturity. In constructing portfolios, Steve works closely with each client and makes recommendations based on their needs, circumstances and objectives. He is the Treasurer for the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, and dedicates much of his free time to volunteering for this important cause. Steve recently relocated to Armonk, NY with his wife, Marsha, of 44 years, in order to be closer to his two married daughters and four grandchildren. When not spending time with his grandchildren, he enjoys playing golf.
